Cura 5.14 Beta: Paint-on Support, Windows on ARM and a New Settings Layout
UltiMaker published the first public Cura 5.14 beta (5.14.0-beta.1) on October 15, 2026. It is the biggest interface update in several releases, and it adds a feature many users have wanted for years: painting supports directly onto a model.
Paint-on Support
With Paint-on Support you brush areas onto the model in the Prepare view. Each painted area is set to enforce support, block support, or let Cura auto-generate it. An overhang-angle slider controls the automatic areas. This replaces most uses of support blockers and makes tricky figurines much easier to slice.
New tabbed settings layout
The Custom print settings panel now uses tabs by default. Quality, walls, infill, material, speed, travel, cooling, support and adhesion each get their own tab. The list is shorter and easier to scan, and the search box still works across all tabs.
Better layer preview
The Preview stage now draws overhangs and bridges in distinct colours. You can spot problem areas before you print, without stepping through every layer.
Windows on ARM
An experimental native installer for Windows on ARM devices, such as Snapdragon laptops, is now available. Earlier versions ran only through emulation on these machines.
Should you install the Cura 5.14 beta?
- Yes, if you want to try Paint-on Support and don’t mind the occasional bug.
- No, if you need a reliable slicer for production prints. Stay on Cura 5.13.0 until 5.14 is stable.
Betas install alongside your existing version, so you can keep both. Download the beta from the official 5.14.0-beta.1 release page. Need help getting started? Read our Cura beginner guide.
